Strong Leadership, Quality Care: Merton’s Adult Social Care Rated ‘Good’ by National Regulator

In August, it was announced that Merton’s adult social care services have been rated ‘Good’ by the Care Quality Commission, the independent regulator of health and social care in England.

This marks another milestone in public service standards, with our Labour-run council continuing to deliver high-quality support for residents who need it most.

The inspection found that Merton Council is providing care that is tailored to individual needs, safeguarding vulnerable people effectively, and leading services with professionalism and compassion.

Inspectors praised the council’s strong partnerships across the community and its commitment to helping residents live independently.

This recognition reflects the hard work of council staff, local partners and volunteers—and shows that Merton Labour is delivering for residents by putting care, dignity and inclusion at the heart of our services.

Cllr Peter McCabe, Cabinet Member for Health and Social Care, said:

“We’re absolutely delighted that the Care Quality Commission have recognised the passion and commitment of our fantastic staff. To have independent and authoritative inspectors praise the strong leadership present in our Adult Social Care service is a huge achievement, and is testament to the dedication, compassion, and professionalism of our staff, partners and volunteers.”

From social care to schools, Merton Labour is building a borough where everyone can thrive.
