PETITION UPDATE: THE TRAFALGAR PUB IS AT RISK - AGAIN!

Sitting in the middle of the High Path Estate, The Trafalgar Pub is one of the last true freehouses in Merton. Winning a CAMRA South West London Pub of the Year in 2024, The Trafalgar Pub has a longstanding historical and cultural significance to our area.

But earlier this year (2025), a planning application was brought forward that would have seen The Trafalgar demolished.

Merton Labour led a local campaign to save The Trafalgar Pub from demolition and we were delighted when the Council’s planning team refused the application, recognising the strong objections raised and the pub’s cultural and historic importance to the area.

But now, the pub is under threat again with the owners submitting an appeal to have the Council’s decision overturned.

This takes the decision out of the Council’s hands as it now sits with the national Planning Inspectorate.

And so, the campaign continues. If you haven’t done so already, it is vital that you add your voice to our petition to save our local pub:
