PROTECT THE FREEDOM PASS

The Freedom Pass is a lifeline for older and disabled Londoners – it helps more than a million Londoners travel around the city and stay connected with friends and family.

Following reports in The Standard where it was suggested that the organisation that manages the Freedom Pass scheme is reviewing the future of the scheme, Merton Labour have stated that we will block any plans to restrict the Freedom Pass.

However, other parties in London have failed to make their opposition to changes to the Freedom Pass clear, with a senior Liberal Democrat Councillor saying it’s an “expensive burden”.

We are calling on the Leader of the Liberal Democrats, Sir Ed Davey MP, to join Merton Labour in firmly opposing any changes to the Freedom Pass and committing to protect this lifeline for older and disabled Londoners.
