Merton Students Buck National Trends with Outstanding Exam Results

Merton’s young people have once again delivered exceptional results across A-Levels, T-Levels, vocational qualifications and GCSEs, outperforming national averages and continuing the borough’s proud record of academic excellence.

This summer, students in Merton achieved strong outcomes in their A-Level and vocational qualifications, and an impressive 100% pass rate at T-Level. GCSE results also exceeded national benchmarks, with Merton students achieving standout results in core subjects like English and Maths.

These achievements come as every school in Merton is now rated ‘Good’ or ‘Better’ by Ofsted, placing the borough among the small number of authorities nationwide to hold this status.

Councillor Sally Kenny, Cabinet Member for Jobs, Skills and Education, visited Ursuline School and Wimbledon College as pupils opened their results.

Cllr Kenny said:

“It’s truly uplifting to see our young people stepping confidently into the next chapter of their lives - whether that’s through apprenticeships, university studies, or embarking on their chosen career paths.

These successes are achieved due to the unwavering support of our teachers, school staff, and families. Your dedication plays a vital role in shaping the futures of our young people, and helping Merton remain one of the best places to grow up in London.”

Merton Labour is proud to support our schools, teachers and families in making sure our children and young people have the very best possible start in life.

Students in our borough are continuing to buck the national trend and prove what’s possible when you combine ambition, hard work and the right support.
