Outstanding Again! Merton Among Top Councils for Children’s Social Care
Merton’s Children’s Services have once again been rated Outstanding by Ofsted, showcasing Merton Labour’s commitment to delivering exceptional care and support for local families.
This achievement places Merton among a select group of councils nationwide to retain the highest rating in children’s social care, and follows the recent Good rating for our adult social care services.
Ofsted inspectors praised the service for its strong leadership and close collaboration across council teams and partners. The inspection found that children’s voices are central to how support is delivered, providing tailored help for children and families under our care.
Cllr Usaama Kaweesa, Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, said:
“We’re delighted that Merton’s children’s services have once again been rated Outstanding by Ofsted. This recognition reflects the dedication of our council teams, partners and volunteers, who work tirelessly to put children and families first and ensure they receive the right support at the right time.
The inspectors’ findings reaffirm our commitment to listening to children, acting early to support families, and preventing harm before it happens. We’re proud of this achievement, and remain focused on improving even further, so that every child in Merton can thrive.”
This outstanding result, combined with another set of fantastic exam results for local students and the fact that 100% of schools in the borough are now rated Good or Better, is testament to Merton Labour’s commitment to making Merton the best place to grow up in London.
