Merton Labour Introduces FREE Bulky Waste Collections
Less than a month after being re-elected, Merton Labour has already delivered on a key election pledge to bring free bulky waste collections to every household in Merton.
From Monday 1st June, Merton residents will be able to book one free bulky waste collection per year for up to three household items - making it easier than ever for residents to get rid of unwanted items.
Large bulky items such as sofas, mattresses, fridges and other household furniture can now be collected free of charge thanks to Labour-run Merton Council’s new service. Residents will be able to book collections through the council’s usual online booking system:
Cllr Garrod, Leader of Merton Council said:
“We promised to introduce a new bulky waste service, and less than a month since the election we have delivered on that promise. This new service is going to make getting rid of unwanted bulky items easier for residents, without them having to leave their homes or spend a single penny”
Alongside this new bulky waste service, Merton Labour have confirmed that they will also be protecting the free Pop-up Tip service, so residents have one near them four times a year.
This is all part of Merton Labour’s focus on keeping our borough clean by reducing fly-tipping and improving access to recycling and waste services for all residents.
