Free Family Fun Returns as Merton’s Splash Pads Reopen
Merton’s popular splashpads and paddling pools are set to reopen for the summer holidays! This is just another way that Labour-run Merton Council are delivering for families in Merton – providing fun and free activities for local families all summer long.
The splash pads in Tamworth Recreation Ground and Wimbledon Park are re-opening from 15th June, and paddling pools across the borough will be open from 18th July.
Merton is already home to one of the highest number of splashpads and paddling pools in the country, and thanks to the strong financial management of Merton Labour, not only have we been able to protect play areas like these, but we have been able to invest in making them even better. Joseph Hood Recreation Ground was upgraded last year with an interactive water play area, and Morden Park set to receive the same upgrade this summer.
Cllr Eleanor Stringer, Cabinet Member for Civic Pride and Climate Change said: “We know how popular our water play areas in Merton are, and while some other councils have had to cut theirs or had long periods of closure, we've worked hard not just to keep ours open but to invest in making them even better. We encourage all residents to make the most of our many wonderful parks, greenspaces and play areas this summer!”
