London’s Biggest Guy Fawkes Night: 16,000 Celebrate in Morden Park
Merton has once again proven it knows how to put on a show. This year’s fireworks displays drew record-breaking crowds, cementing their place as some of the biggest and best in London.
On Guy Fawkes Night, more than 16,000 people flocked to Morden Park, making it the largest fireworks event in London that evening. Families, friends, and visitors from across London gathered to enjoy the dazzling fireworks show on the Wednesday night, and again on the Saturday in Wimbledon Park.
Wimbledon was Merton’s biggest fireworks event ever, welcoming an audience of over 25,000 people. The scale and energy of the crowd made it a truly unforgettable evening!
Cllr Eleanor Stringer, Labour’s Cabinet Member for Civic Pride said on the night:
“It’s absolutely brilliant to be here with thousands of local residents at Fireworks in the park - one of our biggest events yet! I’m so proud that we are able to put on events like this every year for our local community to come together and enjoy.”
Together, these landmark events brought over 40,000 people into Merton to celebrate Bonfire Night in style. They showcase not only Labour-run Merton Council’s ability to deliver safe, spectacular entertainment, but also the community spirit that makes Merton such a special place to live.
