Community Win! Labour Councillors Help Save Morden Post Office

Thanks to the outpouring of support from the community for Morden Post Office, and the swift action taken by Morden’s local Labour Councillors, the Planning application that sought to convert Morden Post Office into flats has been rejected!

Morden Post Office has been a cornerstone of the neighbourhood for over 20 years, and Mr Anil Patel (who runs the shop) has established himself as a valued member of the community.

So, when news of the Planning application broke, local residents quickly came together to show their opposition to the plans. With many concerned over the potential loss of such a valued and relied upon local service, a petition was launched, which has received nearly 2,000 signatures to date.

Thankfully, the Local Labour Action team also quickly stepped up, submitting an objection to the Planning Application. By joining forces with the community to save Morden Post Office, we have ensured that its essential services will still be available to customers and local people.

However, while Morden Post Office has been saved for the time being, the Council’s decision could still be overturned if the applicant chooses to appeal.

That’s why it’s important that we continue to make our voices heard to save Morden Post Office from closure. Please add your support the campaign to save Morden Post Office, and sign the petition below:

This campaign has been a huge victory for Morden residents and those who depend on their local Post Office.

While the fight to protect Morden Post Office from redevelopment plans isn’t completely over yet, rest assured that your local Labour councillors will continue to stand-up for valued community hubs and services.
