Merton Labour Secures Multi-million Pound Investment for St Helier Hospital
Epsom and St Helier Hospitals will undergo a huge £12 million project to improve the comfort of patients and improve the hospitals’ infrastructure, following a longstanding campaign from Merton Labour.
This breakthrough comes after sustained campaigning by Merton Council Leader Cllr Ross Garrod, Cabinet Member for Health and Social Care Cllr Peter McCabe, and Mitcham and Morden MP Siobhain McDonagh, who met with the Minister of State at the Department of Health and Social Care to make the case for urgent investment in St Helier Hospital.
After more than a decade of Conservative and Coalition mismanagement that left the NHS on the brink, this major funding boost follows Labour’s national commitment to rebuild the NHS and reduce hospital waiting times.
Across the country, waiting lists are now beginning to fall, and here in Merton, investment is reaching both GP surgeries and hospitals -proof that Labour, both locally and nationally, is delivering the change our health service so urgently needs.
This £12 million investment in Epsom and St Helier is proof that Labour in power—locally and nationally—delivers for the NHS and for Merton.
