Labour Councillors Demand Accountability from Criterion Developers
Local Labour councillors in Colliers Wood have delivered a petition signed by over 1,000 residents to Criterion bosses, making clear the community’s strong opposition to the developer’s latest plans for three new towers in the area.
Our resident-backed petition reflects the widespread concern about Criterion’s track record, particularly their failure to address issues with their existing tower. After glass fell from the building, Merton Council had to install emergency scaffolding to protect the public, costing local people nearly £3 million, which Criterion has yet to repay.
That’s why Merton Labour are standing with local people to say enough is enough.
Our community has a right to demand accountability from Criterion, as well as safer, more responsible development in the area. The delivery of this petition sends a clear message: Colliers Wood will not accept further high-rise construction from a developer that has failed to meet basic safety and financial obligations.
The success of our last campaign against new proposals from Criterion show what can be achieved when Labour councillors and local residents work together. The Colliers Wood Labour action team are on the case, but the more voices we can get behind this campaign, the stronger our message will be.
There’s still time to add your name to the petition. Make sure to get the word out and share with your neighbours too:
Together, we can keep up the pressure and make sure Colliers Wood’s voice is heard.
