Keeping Merton Clean

You told us you wanted cleaner streets and better bin collections. Labour-run Merton Council has listened and is taking action. We want everyone to be able to feel proud of where they live and have good services they can rely on.

Here’s how Labour is keeping Merton Clean:

  • WEEKLY STREET CLEANING

We launched a new and improved street cleaning services, guaranteeing that every residential street in the borough would be cleaned weekly.

  • NEW GRAFFITTI REMOVAL SERVICE

We created a new graffiti removal service to keep our neighbourhoods clean and tidy, as well as a new rapid response team to be able to deal with reports and issues reported by residents quickly.

  • POP-UP TIPS NEAR YOU

We expanded our popular Pop-up Tip services to make life easier for residents to dispose of bulky waste, with each neighbourhood in Merton having an event near them four times a year.

  • CRACKING DOWN ON FLYTIPPING

Fly-tipping is a menace and a blight on our communities. That’s why we’ve increased fines for fly-tipping to £1000 and for littering to £250 to crack down on this filthy behaviour.

  • TIDY TOWN CENTRES

We’ve introducing more frequent cleaning in town centres and added more frequent bin collections on our big estates to keep busy areas clean and tidy.
