As a resident of the High Path Estate, I'm proud to call Abbey my home. I was born in St George's Hospital to Guyanese and Jamaican parents, and attended Liberty Primary School before going on to Ricards Lodge High School. I've been in Merton my whole life and I am determined to give back to the community which has given me so much.

I began my career supporting local young people to fulfil their potential with the National Citizen Service (NCS) and AFC Wimbledon. In this job I helped local teenagers to build confidence, learn new skills, and contribute positively their communities. Currently, I work for a big security company, improving their how they support customers and train staff.

Outside of work I have volunteered with a local foodbank and I am a youth leader in my church. Fitness and adventure are a big part of who I am, I even took on a charity skydive raising hundreds of pounds for the St George's Hospital Charity Paediatric Ward. As someone living with disabilities, I have a deep appreciation for the NHS workers, including my mother, whose hard work inspires me every day.

I believe in a fairer, greener, more connected Merton built by and for the people who live here.

I have lived in Abbey for the past eight years, and in that time, I’ve fallen in love with the area and our fantastic local community.

I grew up in small village in the countryside where I learnt about the importance of community, charity and fairness. After University I moved to London to start my career and I now work in a studio that does sound for Film, TV and Video Games.

Over the years, I’ve seen how strong communities are built when people feel listened to and supported. I’ve also seen the challenges that face residents from my volunteering in Morden Library, and the difference a good councillor can make.

That’s why I’m standing to be your councillor - to help make sure decisions are made fairly, in the interests of local people.

In my spare time I can usually be found running around Morden Hall Park & Abbey Rec (I’m currently training for the London Marathon), enjoying a pint at The Trafalgar, and reading up on history - something Merton is steeped in.

Merton is the place I am proud to call home, and I’m passionate about helping it continue to thrive. If elected, I’ll work hard to make Abbey even better for the people who live here.

I’ve lived in Merton my whole life, growing up in a hardworking British Sri Lankan Tamil family that taught me the importance of community, kindness, and hard work.

I went to Liberty Primary School just around the corner from here, before going on to Ricards Lodge High School. As I have grown up here, I’ve seen lots change in Merton. But the one thing that has stayed the same is our sense of community and looking out for each other.

After going to University in London, I joined a graduate scheme in the financial sector and now work in funds and asset management at a financial services firm. I want to use what I’ve learnt in my career to support local businesses, and make sure that our Labour-run Council continues to make good financial decisions which benefit our community here in Merton.

From working as a Public Health Young Inspector at Merton Council, to volunteering with the National Trust at Morden Hall Park and in local charity shops - giving back to my community has always been important to me, it’s a big part of who I am.

Now, I’m ready to take on a new challenge by standing to be your local councillor and stand up for people here in Abbey.
